My doctor mentioned doing this to repair hiatal hernia in case I wasn't a candidate for fundoplication depending on motility results. Had anyone had their stomach stitched down or to the abdominal wall?

I had this done. I am 3 weeks post
open surgery. They cut me
open with a 9 inch, 30 staples mid line incision. This was the absolute most painful thing I have ever recovered from .
