Differences in PPI?

I have been having chest/neck tightness and severe shortness of breath for almost a year now. I had an endoscopy that showed esophagitis and gastritis. I suppose that after all the other tests I've had, acid reflux must be responsible for this problem. I drink alcohol daily (more than 1-2 drinks) and smoke cigarettes, I'm 23.
My blood pressure has consistently been at 140/90-100 for the duration. I've been severely stressed because I can't breathe, but for my BP to be so high at 23 I can't imagine making it to 30.

I tried protonix twice a day for about a month, and felt zero difference except that my stomach hurt all the time.

So my questions are:

1. Could alcohol be the primary trigger for this?
2. Would taking a different kind of PPI be worth it, or are they all basically the same?

Hey, yeah I had an echocardiogram, stress test, several ECG, hyperthyroid tests, anemia, kidney tests, 2 chest xrays, a CT scan for blood clots, spirometer tests....


All normal. But this blood pressure and shortness of breath are making me panic
