Post Fundoplication Hiccups

Hello.

I'm day 5 post Toupet. It's been brilliant. I am getting Hiccups though, some quite strong. Is this a thing post surgery? I'm guessing so. Any one been through this or know and information on it. I'm worried it will affect the integrity of the wrap (but not overly so).

Hi there, I had the hiccups badly and they discovered I was allergic to the stitches that hold my hiatal hernia together (internal). My surgeon also biopsied my esophagus because it wasn't working properly. He then discovered that due to the allergy of the stitches, I had a high number of eosinophils (eosiniphillic esophagitis).

I am now on a muscle relaxant (Baclofen 10mg 4x daily) and it works wonders. Hope this helps... you are probably allergic to the stitches that hold everything together internally.

I found that I had hiccups when I ate a little too much, post surgery. When I ate much smaller amounts, they disappeared.

Thanks so much guys. I don't think it's an allergic reaction. It feels more reactive n mechanical than that. My internal gut (ironically) says it's part of the healing process, slow down!

It bloody hurts and I dread it doing damage but surely Hiccups can be tolerated by the wrap.. he says over m over!!

I had a couple episodes of very painful hiccups on day 5 and 6 after surgery. Always related to trying to swallow something. It didn't matter how small the bite or pill was they just started and after a dozen or so subsided. I was given a relaxant but haven't taken any. I'm on week 5 and hiccups don't hurt anymore and don't persist like the early episodes. Also, I had a CT scan (a check for an infection) 3 weeks after surgery and everything looked good regarding the wrap.

I have searched the site too and found a few other posts where it's regarding as part of healing.
