Would you call this heartburn?

Hello everyone,

This is my first post here. I was wondering if you could call what I have heartburn. Every day I have a burning sensation at the top of my stomach. It lasts all day. But the pain stays in my stomach it never moves to my chest. Rarely if I have eaten too much I will get a little bit of regurgitation especially if I'm lying down but that's about it. So my question is, is what I have heartburn? Do any of you have the same pain as I have and have a formal diagnosis of GERD?

Hi cocktail dress, I have gastritis and apparently GERD although the reflux started at exact same time as the gastritis. What sent me to the doc was constant burning in my stomach and nausea. I thought it was an ulcer, that is how bad it was. Turns out to be mild gastritis. I had to have an endoscopy to learn that because it was just relentless, and I was getting no relief. Perhaps you could get checked by a GI specialist. It could be GERD, but sounds more like gastritis as law has stated.

It's best to get checked, because whatever it is needs to be treated so it does not get worse. You also want to be treated for what it is, not what you think it might be. Hope you feel better and get the answers you need.

cocktaildress, I never had a ph study or manometry, my endoscopy test showed esophagitis which is consistent with acid reflux disease. I personally don't think I have Gerd, but the practioner that went over the results of my test told me that I do because of the esophagitis.
I have had occasional heart burn throughout my life, but nothing like this, and it all started when the stomach problem started in January. That's why I think it is related to the gastritis, even if they say it's not
I would not know how to go about getting a ph study or manometry.
I have been on the hopes that once my stomach heals, it will all stop. Hope I'm right!

I am glad you are seeing a GI. It is a shame it is so far off. I had to call a few before I found a place that could see me the following week. It was with a nurse practitioner, but I didn't care, I was desperate, and just needed to see someone to ok me for the endoscopy, because ultimately that is what I wanted done to find out what was going on in my body.
If you continue to feel worse, sometimes if you call again, they might have a cancellation, and they can get you in sooner. Good luck
