oh, just curious...how come you came off your ppi's so rapidly? it can take up to 3 weeks for them to kick in. if you don't get better, maybe you should stay on them 2 or 3 mo.
Ok this is complicated but here how it went:
One night i was eating pistachio and felt it got stuck. Ate bread and other stuff on top of it hoping it will dislodge it but ended up throwing up everything. But feeling didnt go away so ended up in ER. ER did xray and said there is nothing in my throat and gave me protonix and anxiety med ( for sleep) and was refered to gastro doc. I couldnt get any GI appt sooner due to my insurance procedure ( specialist referal) and GI docs being booked out. So i ended up going to PCP which put me on PPI. Looking back I think i may have been misdignosed about
whole reflux thing, may be it was anxiety acting as reflux. Also, i was put on nexium 40 mg by my PCP without any test. It started working from day 2 of taking it. I was given sample of 5 capsules. I took it and stopped it and then again i was put on 30 days supply. So i had break between it. Also, i was on liquid diet this whole time since ER visit. I saw GI docs PA ( not even DOC) after being on nexium for 20 days. She gave me option of endoscopy or upper GI xray. I wanted to go for non invasive test first so i went with upper GI xray. Results came back saying that i had small hietal hernia and spontaneous reflux. PA told me to contiue taking nexium until 30 days supply done then taper and start introducting foods back in diet.
