Should I cancel my Endoscopy if PPI successful 19 y/o?

Hey everyone I have been having gerd problems for about 2 years now I am 19 year old Male that weighs only 59kg and the severity of gerd comes and goes. I was first on Nexium 40mg 2 years ago for a month which cleared my symptoms and I was fine for a year after that needing only Zantac or Gaviscon to control occasional gerd symptoms. Recently though about a month ago I had a really bad flare up of gerd getting symptoms of chest pain, feeling of food coming up my throat, a lot of burping, back pain and nausea so I went back on the Nexium 40mg once daily at night since that's when it's at its worst for me for a week, but was off it after a week because of even worse nausea from it. I then switched to Somac 40mg once daily at night for 3 weeks and it barely did anything at all for me it felt like it made my chest pains and nausea even worse so the doctor referred me for an endoscopy but he also switched me back to Nexium 40mg as the doctor recommended trying it again and it's working worlds better than the Somac was without the nausea either and I am wondering if I should still get the endoscopy since I already booked it about 2 weeks away? I am not symptom free that's for sure I'm still burping a lot and have a bit of chest and back pain plus some regurgitation but it's gotten better with the Nexium even being on it for only 4 days. I'm a bit of an anxious person when it comes to health which definitely makes my symptoms worse off and I'm not really keen on an endoscopy since I've never been sedated before or anything.

You will have what is called light sedation & will not remember thing. For these type of procedures they do not use heavy sedation at all, you will do fine. Get the scope done so the dr can accurately treat you.

So I am going ahead with it in 2 weeks time, with the Nexium I am on they said I could keep taking it until the day before the procedure is that normal since I have never had one before? I've seen a lot of posts saying that they had to stop it a week before? I am currently on Nexium 40mg once a day and it's starting to work quite well now.

While you have this digestive disorder just as me, you have to take proper care of yourself. Remember in GERD, reflux happens to be occasional sometimes and remains for some days. You see when I walk fast I can feel my throat burning, when I walk slow it's not that burning. Always remember in GERD, you have to find out what triggers your reflux, like what u eat, how you sleep, what strain u give to your body, etc. Always try to be remain straight and don't give pressure to your stomach ( like walking slowly, nor bending much, etc)

This PPI are temporary in nature, it's by your only diet (less fatty) and lifestyle ( regular exercise) occurence can be prevented.

This all happens to me along with fatty liver grade 2. So change your habits. Regarding scopy, u may do it to see whether it is hiatal harnia , as in such Harnia also , such may occur. I am also waiting for my Upper GI scopy, but my GI doctor told to wait sometime.

My silent reflux turned GERD last money and my fatty liver was detected last month only. Also I sometimes found mucus in stool. This all are disgestive disorders related to each othe, I think.

Since you are like me suffering from anxiety, I would tell you that anxiety do add to create more acid. So reduce it.
