Trying to understand this pain (Continuous, aching chest pain)

Hello,

I'm trying to understand this pain that I get sometimes. So far, it has made me go to Urgent care a few times, and has caused me a lot of suffering and worry in the others. It's hard to describe and isn't the burning pain that comes with reflux, which I'm accustomed to. The best way I can describe it is that it is a deep and aching pain; it is also pretty continuous.

I don't think I had this pain in the years that I was on Nexium (was on it for a couple years, every day). I've been trying to take Nexium every other (or even third) day because the long term symptoms worry me. So, I'm not sure if this is just reflux or maybe something else, like esophageal spasms, etc. Below are some notes I wrote on things that make it better sometimes.

Things that help:

Baclofen
Nexium sometimes (although sometimes it doesn't help, like today)
GI Cocktail
Raising my arms straight up above my head.

...Antacids and H2's usually don't help that much

I would appreciate hearing from you guys if you've had something similar to this. I also talked to a surgeon about possibly getting surgery done (would be a half-wrap, or touplet), and he said I would be a candidate for it.

Also, I will add that I don't feel any dysphagia. Swallowing seems fine.

For YEARS I was convinced I had a heart condition that somehow didn't show up on the tests. I kept going to new cardiologists because I thought they must be missing something. I had chest pains, how can they say I'm "fine"

So, in the beginning part of the day, I had similar symptoms (maybe a little less severe). But, I've actually been feeling better now later in the day in the afternoon and in the evening. I'm going to try and start taking notes of things I've tried, and how whether I felt good or bad.

So, I took today some apple cider vinegar in water, as well as some tagamet. Also, I experimented with baking soda mixed with water, and had some Kefir mixed with a little bit of honey. It is not quite ideal that I took all of them, because now I'm not really sure which one of them could have possibly been the difference, but it's a start.

@Tommyc, I actually know mine isn't my heart, despite as much pain as I might feel at a certain time. The doctors have been pretty thorough about getting tests done. I've had multiple EKG's done when I was in Urgent Care, and even got an Echocardiogram. Even though we go through some tough pain from time to time, it's nice to have the heart issue more or less ruled out.

I rarely had burning, medicine worked for that for the most part. But, I seemed to always have chest pain. It was worse in the morning and at night when laying down. It was the constant reflux going on.

You need to take the medication as prescribed, unless you are trying to wean off of them. If you are trying to wean off of them, you could be suffering from acid rebound. When was your last endoscopy and barium swallow? If you are considering surgery, make sure you are knowledgeable about all that is involved and about the difficult recovery, as it is a major surgery.
