My wife has been a long-time user of Protonix and her GERD and belching have never been worse. Seems like she cannot digest anything properly. Her last upper endoscopy indicated an early stage of Barrett's Esophagus and her doctor said that they should change up her medication. She tried to call the doc afterward to follow up, but they said she needs to make another appointment. Luckily there was a cancellation and she could get in to see him in a couple of weeks. Otherwise, it would have been months.
How can her digestion be so bad? Personally, I think the Protonix is not doing her any good at all. She is a nurse and believes a lot in meds and, in fact, takes many per day for various conditions. She had her hip replaced last year and is now having a problem with the other one. I am just frustrated that the more she sees docs, the more they want to medicate. I am the opposite.
I guess I am just frustrated with all of these meds that don't seem to be doing any good. I think her balance of acid and enzymes is totally out of wack, but that is just my non-medical opinion.
