I'm stunned by my depleted state physical, emotional chills night sweats. I'm the one that has cared for all my family's long term illnesses. I have chronic asthma ( breathy) and it took THREE MONTHS TO GET SURGERY ON JULY 3. I was a wreck all summer. The surgery took 3and1/2 hours. It's a sunny Saturday and I'm still miserable eyes

Was your body in good shape before your surgery? ( with the exception of asthma and the problems related to your surgery). Or was it depleted from being the one who takes care of everyone. How has eating been for you? Are you able to get enough calories? If you haven't contacted your surgeon, I'd advise that you do so. You don't mention your age or whether or not you're back to work. I hope you're able to slowly get back to where you need to be.

I just read a thread started by tewabear123 documenting his 4 month recovery & thought of you. It might help to read it & see what his recovery was like.

I was anemic breath since winter. Digestive issues geared up and by late march to DrCastro 4/18/2017 Next stage is colostomy, endoscopy. In th OR. Specialist was chosen meeting him May. Date set for 21/June and postponed until 3/July. I'm breathing badly, fatigued Re: getting enough food down , I ache ,My brain is not reliable Anesthesia

Sleep and nite sweats are exhausting my primary Dr. jumped in. The process was 4 months waiting for surgery and I got thre I never closed my eyes all that nite in pain itchy skin and endless. Feeling that I was not ready for this .
I apparently kept repeating" Get me out of here. This is the Shawshank
Redemption . , friends etc . I'm 70 and own my own business which is in shambles ,missed vacations etc. I have blood results Tomorrow .

I agreed to the surgery, but the process has stolen my essence.

Patty I'm grateful for your comments re my gerd surgery issues. I am 69 years old widowed 7 years from husband who I adored. My siblings are all older and all had major health events from which they resumed full happy lives in these years . I own my home and survived financial losses in 2008-2009 that were divistating. I have macular degeneration since 2008 and have injections every 5 weeks which are painful , time consuming and restrict travel 7 days after. I believe that despite many losses I am described as a talented designer, painter and Antique Dealer . I look much younger than my age , I'm confusing to family and friends because I always look so great. But clearly , my insides were coming undone, giant hernias pushing into esophagus and breathing mimicking asthma led to surgery this summer. I would communicate privately but I'm not good at this computer stuff it took me 2hours to get on the site . I am at home , doing the minimum at week 7 .Blood tests way improved from anemia, protein, pneumonia. I want input.

Teddy, we're the same age and I also feel completely depleted. I've been battling lupus for years, and this added complication of a (suddenly) worse hernia has slowed down my already slow life. But I learned with lupus to accept today and to not let my illness define me. Luckily I have an amazingly supportive family. Losing you dear husband must have been adding so much stress to your already tired self. Keep pushing your doctors.
