Hi guys, I'd like to know how many of you had chest x ray and the result was lung fibrosis? I don't mean to create anxiety here, but as I read more and more, GERD (particularly LPR) can damage the lung as well, as I'm sure many of you already know. I've had shortness of breath and tight chest.
What freaked my out was when I searched pulmonary fibrosis on the net, I got idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) which has very poor prognosis, although this disease is rare and commonly affects elderly people. I consulted this with my pulmonologist but he didn't worry as he said my fibrosis was small (like a pen scratch), not every PF is IPF and I can get checked again a year from now.
Besides my fibrosis, the x ray also mentioned calcification, both are in my left lung. I watched pulmonary fibrosis seminar in youtube and the expert there said that, if the fibrosis is only in one lung, it's likely due to GERD.
So what do you think of it? Thanks in advance.
