I typed that into my browser on 2/1/2018 at 2am CST. This is happening more frequently the last 2 weeks. Now it is almost constant. I posted a new thread here because I am unable to locate the thread I read originally.
I thought about
what I've been eating since then. I'm frying and sauteing more frequently. I go through a jar of oil in almost a week, and it used to take a lot longer than that. I eat vegetarian chili quite a bit, spicy. Lots and lots of garlic and onions. Coffee more frequently, caffeine. Sometimes 2 or 3 kombucha's a day then skip about
4 days, caffeine again. Chicken fajitas more often, fried. Omelette with onion and peppers, sauteed. Overeating a panful of food at a time. I'm slender but I can eat a lot per meal; however, I only eat about
2 meals a day.
Wow! Everything the GERD sites say don't do if you have this condition happening.
I'm doing an about
face back to when I didn't have this. It's a bit frightening when I don't think I'm going to be able to swallow.
After it's cleared up, I'll have these things 1 or 2 times a week if it doesn't cause me a problem.
1. Water or broth to cook vegetables or organic chicken or wild caught fish. I need to stop sauteing and frying to get this cleared up.
2. Cut back on meat and eat mostly vegetables.
3. No vegetarian chili for now; spicy foods are out.
4. Meals must be much smaller; stop being a glutton.
5. No coffee for now. Only 1 kombucha at a time.
6. Cut back on onion and garlic; have them 1 meal, skip 2 meals.
And I'm adding in the advice I got from reading this board:
7. Drink lots of warm water. I also like it with a little lemon or herbal tea that doesn't have caffeine.
8. I'm going to start those exercises for the esophagus muscles today.
Thank you Luka and sillylilly for posting 7 and 8.

Good luck! I also would add to not eat at least 3 hours before bedtime. I do the extreme versions of this: we eat at 6pm, I go to bed at 1am....but that's what works for me to help a bit with stomach acid coming up.
I still drink coffee, but I use a tiny mug instead of my usual huge oversized mug, and eat tiny meals. Eating fruit and melons helps me too, but I found I have to be careful not to eat too much. Even though fruit is mainly water I'd fill up and end up with tons of watery acid coming up.
I hope your efforts pay off, a year and a half later and I'm still figuring it out and having issues.

Gerdy, I responded to your post on the other chain. Good luck with surgery! It will be fine. Everyone here who had it is doing well now. (I sometimes post as reena20 as well).
