Gina and Leo,
I had a Toupet but it was uneventful. I was discharged the next day after surgery. And my asthma which was considered to be a physiological result of the GERD as also the persistent post nasal drip, were gone the moment I woke up in recovery. I was surprised that even in that groggy state I was breathing better than I had in 10 years of reflux and the doctors (GI specialist, surgeon, ENT etc) had all told me my asthma and post nasal drip were simply from reflux. I never had any reflux or GERD symptoms or asthma after having the surgery. Healing takes some time. But at my one month post op visit, my surgeon told me he'd never seen anyone recover as fast as I did because I was always active and just followed what they gave me in the discharge sheets. Sure, I was nervous before but I didn't read what others wrote because I figured no one goes through everything someone else does. What I did do was follow some of the diet BEFORE surgery just to make sure I would have everything ready and prepped really well. It was so much easier then because some loss of energy is to be expected. I lost about 42 lbs and gained back only some 7 lbs. But it's also because I was working out by the 3rd month.
