I'm almost 3 weeks post op (although I had a partial fundoplication). I also have times were food gets a little stuck near my wrap (like everyone). Ultimately, it's just a part of the healing process, but I did do a bit of research on how to increase esophageal motility. I wrote about
it in my thread, but will include it here.
"There are a few things that can help esophageal motility, and can maybe help if you need to push food down your wrap.
First is the effect of hot liquid on peristalsis. It has been proven with medical studies that your motility strengthens when you swallow HOT liquid. Second, is something called peristaltic reserve - Essentially, if you have 3-4 rapid swallows in a row, it activates something called "peristaltic reserve," which will temporarily boost your peristalsis. These two things might help you the next time you have food stuck at your wrap."Post Edited (leo77) : 3/7/2018 12:32:13 PM (GMT-7)
