riverpeep A lot of doctors aren't even aware of EOE, so they do not even look in biopsies for it when you have an endoscopy, so yes he/she could miss it. It's best to talk to your doctor to make sure you either got biopsied for it with the first endoscopy, or if you suspect EOE, to get tested for it again during your second endoscopy. (endoscopy biopsy is the only way to get tested as they count the number of white blood cells in your tissue) There may be abnormalities (irritated throat, rings) , but they often think it is GERD causing it as GERD and EOE often overlap with symptoms.
