Dysphasia GERD/Silent Reflux/Allergies

How do you know if the Dysphagia is from gerd/Silent Reflux or allergies? I always feel so much mucus in my throat and it feels like food is stuck in my throat when eating.. and after feels like it won’t go down. Anyone feel these two relate and work together to cause swallowing issues? I’m desperate it’s been over 2 years of this and I’m pregnant, starving and JUST want to eat!! ):

Trouble swallowing for an allergy (particularly a food allergy) can be caused by Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EOE). The only way to tell for sure if it's from this is from a biopsy done by an endoscopy.

The problem is that many doctors do not know about 'Eosinophilic Esophagitis' and it often never gets tested for, so may people spend 2-3 years complaining to doctors about trouble swallowing and seeing 2-3 GI doctors over a few years before they ever get diagnosed. And then there's no standardized way of treating EOE, so many people are left more confused than ever.

I've been in your position, and it was torture. After 2 years of doctors shrugging me off, and people telling me to 'chew more' or 'keep a food journal' frustrated the heck out of me as I was down to drinking ensure or smoothies to keep myself alive. I ended up cutting out dairy and after 7 weeks my swallowing started to get better to the point where I can swallow my own saliva without gagging.

If you're on facebook there's a great Eosinophilic Esophagitis group for adults where the condition is discussed along with GERD and LPR. I'm not suggesting you have EOE either, but I think it's worth investigating and discussing with your doctors if you're getting nowhere with your relief. (as many doctors aren't aware of it)
