I am 26 years old and I was diagnosed with GERD 7 to 9 years ago. I developed it after a bout with pneumonia weakened me and gave me anxiety. I am obese and since then my acid reflux has come and gone as I largely ignored it until recently.
about 14 days ago, I began to feel a puddle of something develop in my esophagus, as if some dripping sensation was occuring. 2 days later I began to cough up phlegm and assumed it was nasal drip that went down the back tube. I saw the doctor on the 3rd day and he listened to my lungs and chest saying that they both sounded just fine. I went to see another doctor and he confirmed that my lungs and chest also sounded fine but he gave me antibiotics for 7 days.
It is now 3 days since I have completed the antibiotics and I still feel something in my throat and my cough still has not gone away - although the cough is not as severe as it used to be. Sometimes I can spit up a small bit of transparent mucus from my throat. Since coughing is a symptom of esophogeal cancer, and since I have had GERD for nearly a decade, is it possible that I have developed cancer?
