I am in the same boat as you, but I do not believe that you need to be nervous. I've had GERD for 8 years (I'm now 26) and my symptoms are worse than yours. Tight throat, stuck food, hoarseness in the morning, actual pain in throat because the acid came up and burned my larynx, pain between the shoulder blades, flare ups after eating, and chronic cough. The reason my symptoms are worse is because I only took PPIs for a short time (less than a year) and then I resumed my life of overindulgence.
My biggest concern like most was Barret's/cancer, but several posts here have put my mind at ease from a statistical perspective, as the odds for either are low with constant GERD (although of course relatively high to someone who doesn't have GERD).
Given my symptoms, I believe that I might have a case of esophogitis - although painful it does heal over time - but we won't know for sure until I get my scope one month from now.
So although I don't yet have a personal story about the result of my scope, I just wanted to post to let you know that we're going through a similar thing, and to hang in there.
