Nissen fundoplication Surgery recovery one week later

This has made four months recovery and I am doing better then ever my weigh lost going from 211lbs to 180lbs I seen my primary doctor this week and he was surprised by my weigh lost it was congratulations across the broad from him he told be to keep up with my workouts now. I still have trouble taste buds have to chewing gum all the time even when I go to the gym. I am reintroducing new foods to my diet I can not wait to see what six months will bring for me a lot of people say it take six months of recovery to be your normal self. Hello everyone. This month marks 10 years post Nissen surgery. This board was my support during recovery. The posts are still there and as I reread them, I hope others have benefitted from them. It's unusual to find posts right after surgery with a follow up to let others know what to expect in the futue. In my case, life post nissen is still heartburn free, i can burp, but still cannot vomit. I highly recommend this procedure. To sum it up, I remain

Today marks my six month mark since my esophagus and hernia surgery ... I was able to enjoy spaghetti with garlic and onion this week with little too no side of effect of excessive burping. I have maintain my current weigh of 180lbs for about three months now and still working out four times a week but with more weights now. When I started my weight lost I was doing one hour on the epileptic machine and 30 minutes on weights so know am down to 30 minutes on the epileptic machine, weight training for the last 30 minutes of workout for a total of one hour now. Am a country boy and enjoy southern meal's, but am finding I can not make big meal like I use too without having to throw half of it away so I still learning how to cook smaller meals for my smaller frame. I still find myself chewing gum all day since my surgery and when I drink soda most have lemon juice in it for taste my taste buds are still off for some reason I was wondering do anyone one else have the some symptoms. Yesterday marks my eighth month since my esophagus and hernia surgery. I have lost about 30lbs since my surgery finding it hard to cook for myself. I made spaghetti and meat sauce a couple of weeks back I use a pound of ground beef but that was to much for me to eat so I have to make half of that the next time I make it. I also cooked Turkey with dressing, Mac and Cheese, collard greens for new years and my body is still not taking to well on all that heavy foods glad it only comes around once a year. I am chewing less gum these days now my mouth is not as dry as it was for the 1st six months after my surgery. In my last post I did drop down to 172lbs but I had the flu for a week after xmas so my weigh drop but am back to 179lbs now still trying to get to the weigh of 170lbs in the next couple of weeks will keep you posted. Tomorrow marks my tenth month since my esophagus and hernia surgery. I am gain a couple of pounds but I am think it do to me lifting weighs now. I did started drinking apple cider vinegar to try to lost the pounds to get to my new goal of 170lbs and went back too rollerskating once a week to get in some more extra exercise. For about two weeks I have not been eating health but started back with that this week rice vegetables chicken fish. Have not had salmon since my surgery last year so I will be reintroducing that back into my diet this weekend and see how my system handles that. Just two more months and I will be a year since my surgery will stop posting after that will check in from time to time on others recover process. Today marks my one year anniversary since my esophagus and hernia surgery... Its been over a year since I tried buffalo wings this week and it is still to spicy for me to handle I was only able to eat three and had to give up... Its is still hard a year later trying to figure out the best diet and healthier food for myself but am still a work in progress.. I can say am thankful for the surgery I was able go from 206lbs at my surgery down to 180lbs in sept so that is my second anniversary date of my weigh lost am still trying top lost just 10lbs more and will be at my best weigh in over ten years now,,, I can say it was hard at the beginning of this journey to figure out what I can and can not eat not having so made soul food dish in a long time,,, I can say everyone recovery is different for each of us and I wish you all will as you navigated though this process I will check in from time to time to see how other are dealing with recover stay strong this to shall pass

Dear Linda T glad you had the surgery you are at the beginning of a long road I was able to drink soda after I was release to go back to exercises my surgery was in may did not go back to exercises until July. what I notice after surgery my taste buds are much different I love diet diet pepsi but now I have to have it lime in for me to drink it. As far as spicy foods I still learning from the even a year later I tried buffalo wing several months ago and it was hard to get though on the 1st day was only able to eat three the next day it feel a lil better so I had four wings. As far as you healing most of the blog here told me it would take about six months too a year to recovery everybody recovery is different on here. Just take it slow like I did I had my fear still at the six month mark but since I lost some weigh my eating habits have changed I have to learn not to cook large meals just for myself that has been my learning process since my recovery also make sure you do as the doctors have ordered you to do, like I said it my take about six months to a year before you started to feel like yourself again.
