It does take a few months to feel much better. Also, since you say the damage was more than most, I'd take it easy and give myself some time if I were you. This thing does get better and rest is also important. While I did start lifting/working out a little over 3 months post surgery, I started with light weights, etc. And I stayed with the lighter diet just so my body would get a break. Healing is a process and between 6 months to a year things really do seem much better than the first 3 months. If there are specific issues, do discuss them with your doctor too.
