Can anyone help me with my recent diagnosis of Silent Acid Reflux. My gastro dr. said my esphogus is swollen and it causes me to have coughing fits from what feels like a tickle in the back of my throat. I cough until I sneeze and I may have a tightening of the throat. I had a swallow test that showed a minor-moderate condition. My diet says to eliminate tea, coffee, tomatoes, chocolate, fried foods, spices....I'M ITALIAN!! Also take small bites and drink lots of water and take pantoprazole, 40 mg on an empty stomach.
Any input would be appreciated.

If a doctor tells you to consider surgery, make sure he proves that you actually have silent reflux before going ahead with any surgery.

Thanks, for the input. I'm almost 80....It will be a cold day in .... before I'll agree to anymore surgeries. I've had gall bladder, hernia, fecal transplant, ankle/foot,2 hips, 2 knees, cataracts...2 kids....enough.

You need to follow the diet, and try to keep a food diary to try and pinpoint your trigger foods. Make sure you eat 30 minutes after taking the Protonix.
