Hi I just joined this forum after looking around for a health forum that had topics about
people who've had a laparoscopic nissen fundiplication done and are experiencing issues with it. Anyway I had severe gerd starting in 2010 when I was 16 and after trying many different medications that didn't help me or made me feel really drowsy and sick. I've had ten scopes done in the past seven years. I then was referred to a stomach specialist. So I had to have a endoscope done while I was awake and had the strength of my esophagus tested and the strength was fine. They then gave me a mini scope with a ph test for a day that was put down into my stomach and a recording device to see how bad the acid reflux level was and after they got the results they told me most people have a ph level of 15 and mine was at 60.
My specialist then recommend that I get a laparoscopic fundplication done and I was then put on a waiting list back in march, I then had the surgery done on Jul 3 this year. I was quite sore and sick after the surgery and had to stay in the hospital for three days after the surgery, I was also on morphine and pain killers for those three days. I was then discharged from the hospital sent home and was really tired and had dumping syndrome for about
two weeks after the surgery but that eventually went away. I could barely eat any food for the first month just a liquid diet of jello broth. By the end of the first month I started feeling somewhat better besides the gas and bloating and was back to eating solid foods which I could tolerate, like turkey hamburger, peaches eggs, bananas, oatmeal, chicken, protein shakes, carrots. Then about
three weeks ago I started getting severe bloating, chest pain, gas, bloating and gurgling in my stomach that lasts all day but gets worse at night. I went back to see my stomach specialist three weeks ago and he said it was gas bloat syndrome and the pain I am feeling is probably permanent since I already tried taking gas x,beano,IB guard, peppermint tea and even apple cider vinegar but nothing relives the gas bloat syndrome. It's so bad I can't get to sleep until 1:00am or 2:00am at night. Because I feel like I'm going to have a hard attack and my stomach just gurgles all night I also wake about
ten times every night from the pain. My stomach is also severely bloated all the time I also have Ibs so I'm wondering if the surgery is making it worse then it already was. I also had severe constipation after the surgery and only suppositories helped me thankfully the constipation is gone and I'm going regularly now. Now I'm worried that I might have the surgery undone because I'm feeling so sick now it's almost as bad as the acid reflux now. But the surgery has got rid of the acid reflux and my neck doesn't get kinked all the time anymore because the gerd was causing me to clench really bad and made the muscles in my neck tighten up all the time and I had to go for physiotherapy every 2 weeks or my neck would get kinked all the time. I have no idea what to do I'm 24 years old and I don't know if I'll be able to work again or feel good it's like I'll either have severe stomach pain or. severe acid pain a burning throat and a kinked neck and headaches all the time. My stomach specialist told me to come back and see him in three months so hopefully things improve or I don't know what I'm going to do. I'm feeling really hopeless and depressed and feel like my life is pretty much over, I'm trying to get my GED and getting my a+ certification so I can be a computer tech but it's so hard to study because of the lack of sleep and feeling really sick and getting up late all the time. Any ideas?
