Desperate Se, I’m not off PPI’s. I’m one of the few who aren’t. I had gastritis and esophagitis one year ago, and I was going got stay on it, but then people talk about the issues with staying on PPI’s. I’m getting off of it, but just taking my time. I’m down to 20mg per day. My GI said it probably wasn’t realistic for me to be without PPI’s because I’ve been on them for 35 years. So the goal is for me to get on the non-Rx type when needed.
I believe the itis that I had is from fibromylegia and not from the surgery. I had a manometry. postoperatively and I had absolutely no Reflux.
I can eat any thing I want. However since my goal is to get off PPI’s, I found that I have to eat healthier. I am on an anti-inflammation diet. Here is a link

However, I do eat red meat, and dairy. I eat lots of popcorn because it is so good for you. I cut out sugar and processed foods including bread. I do go out and have a few drinks and eat ribs and french fries, but I find I put on five pounds so I don’t do it too often. I’m fine as long as I don’t over eat. I cut out bad foods gradually. I also eat fermented vegetables including sauerkraut. It is good for your gut health.
I didn’t want a Nissen either because it works until it doesn’t. I was very sick before surgery with regurgitation, reflux, and chest pain and since my symptoms are gone, I feel great.
