I am 63 years young, a recently retired teacher and have suffered from reflux for 20+ years. After the last few on max meds and still suffering heartburn it was time to do something about
it!
Well it’s day two and here I am home from hospital and installed on the lounge wearing dvt socks and on the road to recovery!
I have been on this site for a few weeks and I’m so grateful for the information and very positive posts I’ve read and which have helped me greatly as I entered into this.
I was relieved to swallow my first sips of water after I went to the ward with no problems and even more excited when later a small burp erupted .... I could swallow and burp! It was soon after this that the gas pains began and I’m so glad I knew about
the terrible pains that can travel around your shoulders neck and back I can’t only liken it to the pain of a stitch when running but so much worse! The pains have gradually lessened but are still niggling. Coughing and burping are a bit uncomfortable and I do feel a bit like an elephant has been sitting on my chest but I guess that’s to be expected after all that’s been going on in there!😉
The next morning a bowl of clear broth was my breakfast and after advice from this site I sipped 1/2 of it down trying not to overdo it. It was good to taste salt. Since then I was given ice cream, yogurt, pumpkin soup and strained porridge all of which went down well if slowly and cautiously.
It’s good to be home. I know there will be bumps in the road and some swelling discomfort ( but I haven’t felt any heartburn and hope that will be the new me! )
Does anyone know when swelling of the wrap tend to occur I’m not sure what to expect over the next week or so.
