I don't have an answer to smoking post-surgery, but I do know that smoking contributes to reflux, and you should quit. That's something to speak to your potential surgeon about. I tell everyone that surgery should be a last resort. It is major abdominal surgery and the recovery can be lengthy and difficult. You and you need to be committed to following a somewhat restrictive diet. Everyone's recovery is different, but I didn't feel much better until six months post-surgery and the "new" me at one year.
