Just found this forum and am new here and looking for anyone who can help advise.
Have had for a long time symptoms of constantly needing to clear my throat, swallow, hoarseness, etc. But no classic heartburn symptoms. When I go to the dentist they are always have to suction well while working on my teeth.
Symptoms worse over the last two years, especially bad trying to clear my throat at night when lying down. Went to an ENT a year ago who said maybe it is reflux related as it was not clear that sinuses were the issue, though I HAVE twice been scoped and reflux was not apparent. So I am now suspecting LPR since I seem to have classic symptoms and understand that LPR may not be apparent from a scope.
My health is generally very good and I work out a lot, am not overweight and I eat a careful diet. No meat, very little sweets. Sometimes oatmeal but not much other grain. Eat mostly fish, vegetables, fruits (mostly berries), nuts, beans. Very little dairy. No soda. Occasional seltzer which I have dropped now. I love spicy food but have dropped that for now. Mostly extra virgin olive oil and sometimes coconut oil.
A week ago I found info from Dr's Aviv and Koufman and I have eliminated for now onions, garlic, vinegar, mustard, tomatoes, chocolate, citrus. Weaned my coffee down from 2 1/2 to 3 cups a day then to now under 1 cup, and will try to eliminate that. Started drinking alkaline water. With almond milk for smoothies. No eating less than 3 hours before bed. Trying Pepcid. Have ordered Gaviscon Advanced from England - not here yet.
No dramatic change yet but recognize that it has only been a week.
Any diet or other recommendations from anyone who can help would be greatly appreciated! Have also seen reference to the Fast Tract diet. How is it different from what Aviv and Koufman advise? Anyone who has experience with both Fast Tract and the Aviv/Koufman types diets and can post about their experiences?
Thanks!
