This forum was very helpfull to me while suffering with gerd in 2018. So, wanted to share my full story. I was diagnosed with gerd in the summer of 2018. My endoscopy showed inflammation due to gerd. It all started when I had a lifting injury. I worried about
hiatal hernia. The heartburn was keeping me up all night, and I took all the meds. I could not tolerate ppi so ended up on pepsid which I found helpful. I had an upper GI that showed no hiatal hernia several months into my struggles. I lost a lot of weight and ate nothing but bland food yet still could not lie down without reflux with pain in my chest and my back after every meal. Wanted to share the good news that somehow it did slowly resolve and I have been off the meds about
a year now. I still avoid spicy foods for the most part, but basically Am back to normal. I also feel sometimes the meds are a vicious cycle even though needed.
