Have GERD thinking about gastric wrap

I am wondering if anyone has had the weight loss sleeve and how it worked out. My mother is thinking about it and wants to know what she might be in for? Any help would be amazing. Thank you.

Normally, with GERD, you would have a Nissen Fundoplication and not a gastric sleeve which is normally for weight loss of over a 100 pounds. I tell everyone that surgery should always be a last resort, and always seek a second opinion. The NF is major abdominal surgery, and the recovery period can be difficult and longer than expected. I had my surgery roughly 6 years ago, and I didn't feel much better until 6 months post-surgery. I felt like the "new" me at approximately one year.

I did not post very clear, sorry. My mom is thinking of getting the gastric sleeve, but she has GERD and IBS and wanted to know how they were after surgery. Sorry I was not clear. Her GERD is well controlled and there is minimal damage to the esophagus.

Ok, it make sense now. I'm not familiar with the gastric sleeve procedure or post-surgery side effects with GERD and IBS. Hopefully someone will come along and share their experience. I have to warn you that the Boards are very slow, and you may/may not get responses. She should share her concerns with her potential gastric sleeve surgeon, they could give the best answer.
