pain in chest while swallowing food after endoscopy

I had an endoscopy today and I'm eating some pasta noodles and when I swallowed it it was like I felt it in my chest going down. Anyone ever experienced this? Will it be better tomorrow, I hope, if not I will be calling the Dr. This didn't happen when I had my first one done

Hi Yolee,

There are times when an endoscopy can irritate...especially if you already have esophagitis.  If it continues, though, it would be wise to discuss it with your doctor.

No esophogitis and the erosion I had is healed so all good news! However I don't remember feeling this uncomfortable in my chest after my last one its just the middle of my chest but a little uncomfortable. I just hope it is gone tomorrow or I will definitely call my Dr. He did a few biopsies, I am keeping positive and I know the results will all be good.

The biopsies could be the cause...

Still, if you're still uncomfortable, it's always better to check.

Hi mav, I have sensation and occasionally short sharp pain just below belly button on the right side. Endoscopy and duodenal biopsy was done 3 months ago :(

Hi, I know it has been a while but could you please confirm that the pain and the discomfort have gone since the endoscopy? For me it was done 1 month ago and I'm still suffering from stomach and esophagus pain and lost hope that it will disappear some day. sad

Yes, endoscopy pain does resolve. Have you contacted your GI doctor about your continued discomfort. Everyone reacts uniquely to various procedures, but still, being bothered after a month seems uncommon. Maybe other members will speak up and share their experiences and healing times. The endoscopy that bothered me the most was one in which they took biopsies. I would encourage you to share your symptoms with your doctor. Please be sure to post again with your experience/progress. That’s how we all learn and help each other!

How are you feeling now? Did the Dr found out what caused the pain after the endoscopy? Did the pain go away? If so what did you do? I am having the same problem. Pain after an endoscopy. They found chronic active gastritis due to h-pillory. The Dr doesn't think that what I am feeling now has to do with the endoscopy but maybe taking the biopsy might have triggered something. Unfortunately he can't see me because he is out of town and will only return after the holidays. So for now I just have to deal with the pain and take painkillers. My pain feels like open wounds in my stomach and esophagus.
