Pantoprazole not working after 4 days

Hi guys,

So a couple of weeks ago I started treatment for GERD, at first I got started on just 15mg of Lansoprazole, it worked really quickly, after a few days my stomach pain quickly started diminishing, the lump in my throat became less bothersome, but I still woke up with a burning sensation in my throat. So it worked most of the time, but it seemed like during the night it wore off.

So my doctor instead put me on two 20mg Pantoprazoles, one before breakfast and one before dinner. I started on friday, but now my symptoms are starting to reappear. My doctor said that Pantoprazoles worked just like Lansoprazoles, but it genuinely feels like it's not working at all.

Is this possible?

Yes, I have no serios complications as of yet, but they did see irritation in the esophagus. And when I started with Lansoprazole my symptoms started diminishing after a few days, I'm just surprised that the higher dose of Pantoprazole isn't giving me anywhere near the same relief as the smaller dose of Lansoprazole did within the same few days.

I'll give it until after easter, then get back to my doctor if there's no improvement. Thanks for the reply.
