Hi All
I've Been Desperately looking for any information ,
I live in the UK , waited 3 years for the nissan surgery,
Finally had it done on the 21st , when they went to wake me up, I couldnt breathe , it felt like an asthma attack , I went up to theatre at 1.45pm and didn't go back to my ward until after 7pm ,

After being put on morphine all night ,
The following day , they said I could go home ,
They gave me NO information , no wound dressings , no diet sheet , Nothing !!

By the Monday evening I noticed that my incision wounds were looking infected ,
Cut it short , I didn't manage to see anyone until Tuesday afternoon and the nurse was horrified,

She changed the dressings and put iodine on them and prescribed me liquid antibiotics,

It will be a week tomorrow , and I constantly have dry mouth even though all I'm doing is drinking water ,
The last 2 days I've had soup to eat ,
I don't know what I'm supposed to eat ,
It just says online "liquid diet" but says nothing,
I'm not having any nutrition my body needs ,

I did try a ready made slim fast but I felt awful ,
So even though all I've had is soup my stomach is so bloated, (like I used to feel before the op)
I had to take "lactose solution" due to bad constipation ,
But i don't know if I can now ,
I'm full of wind and none is coming out ,
My stomach is making gurgling noises ,

I've made sure to get up and move around each day ,
But my stomach is hurting the very top
If Anyone can give me any advice as even my GP doctor was useless , she printed out a sheet off the Internet!! ,
I've read people should use incentive spirometer to help with breathing to help the lungs

As I'm asthmatic and considering the hospital taking hours to stabilise my breathing, they should have given me one ,
I pray my lungs aren't damaged ,
I'm also having back pain

A lot of what you are going through is very common. It's a shame that your surgeon didn't give you more information. You can google the diet that I was given "UPMC Post-Nissen Diet," it gives a lot of information and sample diets. Constipation usually occurs from the usage of painkillers, and it will subside. My surgeon informed me up front that I wouldn't be able to belch as before and would no longer be able to vomit, and I was fine with that. If you can't belch normally, there is only one way for the gas to exit. You are filled with gas during the surgery, and you may feel it trapped near your shoulder. You might want to take some anti-gas medication, and walking really helps. You've had major abdominal surgery, and the gurgling is to be expected. Your stomach is hurting at the top because that's where the wrap is located, and peak swelling occurs between 7 and 10 days. That's when you may experience the most pain and may have difficulty swallowing. Have you tried contacting the surgeon's office with your questions? Can you call your pulmonary specialist about your breathing difficulties? It's quite possible that you experienced a panic, rather than an asthma attack while in recovery. Just remember that you are very early into your recovery. It took me a good six months before I started feeling better, and a year until I felt like the "new" me.

Sadly I'm in the UK and our health care is just awful ,
I'm seeing the nurse at Mt doctors surgery tomorrow to change the dressings again as I had an infection,
I've looked up how to do breathing exercises
Did you do them or has anyone else, and if so did it help ?
I'm so worried at the moment only because I have my grandads funeral on Wednesday,

And need to buy clothes , there are postal strikes here so i can't order online , and ive been told I'm not allowed to shower due to my 5 wounds on my stomach being infected ,
That with the pain as well , the last thing I want to do is walk around shops ,
I was hoping maybe day 8-9 I'd go
But if like you say that days 7-10 are the worse im dreading it ,
The day of the funeral will be day 12 , I pray I feel better xx
