No one's symptoms are exactly the same. Once the esophagus has been irritated from GERD, it usually doesn't go away on it's own. You need to get rid of the causes with diet and/or medication, limit stress, no alcohol, etc. Try following a strict GERD-friendly diet, and keep a food diary to try and pinpoint your potential trigger symptoms. Medication can take months to feel a difference.
