Betaine HCl and pepsin

I've been taking for 4 days betaine HCL with pepsin by Thorne manufacturing. As soon as I take it I get a terrible headache or migraine. And I'm just using one capsule per day for a terrible digestion problem years of silent GERD and ppis. I don't think headache is normal so I guess I'm going to have to stop I would love to hear from anyone that has the same issue.

Usually with the headache symptom it's because the dosage is too high. Was this something that your doctor advised you to take?

Only 1 cap taken 500 mg. Can I cut cap in half?

If it's a caplet (solid) yes, if it's an actual capsule (beading inside) - no. It's always a good idea to check with your doctor before starting any new medications - even o-t-c. Were you diagnosed with low stomach acid?

I tell everyone not to self diagnose with Dr. Google, there is a lot of misinformation out there. If possible, schedule an appointment with a gastro doctor and go from there.

I would suggest diluted apple cider for low stomach acid instead of going for medications.

I agree with you completely. How do you feel about taking enzymes for bloating

I haven't had experience of taking any enzyme for bloating so cant give you any advice. For my bloating and excessive gas I use a suspension which contain simethicone and this helps... Also my doctor has recently advised Mebeverine HCI for trapped gas, this was never a symptom of GERD and i only developed it post nissen fundoplication.
