I had my TIF surgery several months ago, I think it was in February. At first I thought it worked and I was happy - then I gradually started having reflux symptoms again but still they weren't as bad as they were before the surgery so I wasn't totally unhappy that I'd done it. My symptoms are gradually getting worse - I still have to sleep sitting up unless I want to wake up with reflux burning in my chest and regurgitation. But the biggest problem I have and the reason for this post is that I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem. Before my surgery, I hardly ever had gassy burping - it was right after my surgery that I started having hiccups alot and a lot of belching and even called my dr's office and told them - they said it was normal and to take Mylanta. (mylanta has been off the market for 2 years - don't know why they didn't know that) Anyway, it has gotten gradually much worse to where I am burping and belching all the time. I should point out I had a small hiatal hernia which supposedly the doctor had fixed during the surgery. My doctor had done over 320 TIF procedures so I was confident he knew what he was doing.
I followed my drs instructions as far as diet afterwards, but he said he is not as strict as some drs and told me I could eat a lot of things that were not in the booklet as long as I chewed to a liquid consistency. I am wondering, however, if I did too much lifting - I had to go back to my usual housework which I did have t lift some things that might have tore the staples - however, I never lifted more than the dr's instructions said I could.
Can anyone tell me whether they have had excessive gas & burping after their surgery and if you are happy you had the surgery.
