Hi everyone. I was Dx with GERD when I was in my 20's, and in my 40's my doc said to come in once a year to be checked for possible Barrett's Esophagus. Lately, for the past three months, I have been waking up in the morning with bad breath and a bad taste in my mouth and it's not a bad tooth. Does anyone here get checked for Barrett's Esophagus and wake up with a very bad taste in their mouth and if so, what do you do about it? I don't know if this bad taste is caused by GERD or Barrett's Esophagus. Thanks
If you smoke or drink, quit it immediately. For me my bad taste was due to my toothpaste. If the toothpaste has too much chemicals it's really bad for GERD. I opted for a toothpaste which contains sodium bicarbonate. Oh and yes please never use any medicated mouth wash. It will make GERD symptoms worse
