I can now eat anything I want though it took me about
7 to 8 months to feel normal again. One of the best decision of my life was to undergo nissan fundo surgery. For the first 4 months I couldn't burp and I was miserable with bloated stomach and it's side effects untill I met a physician who diagnosed my condition as "post nissan gas bloat" and prescribed me an antispasmodic to help pass the wind. For the first 6 months I couldn't consume vegetables and my diet was limited to chicken, mutton and some lentil soups, I could consume fruits except for apples, citrus fruits and dry fruits. But now I can eat anything I want with just one exception which is dairy. Dairy gives me a hell lot of gas and makes me miserable.
Wishing you all the best.

Thanks for reply fa83,
Asked questions to consultant via e mail and he said the Fundo does not cure Barrettes, nothing will unless it is ablated. Only do this if Barretts turns into malignant type cells, which are detected when they do an endoscope which for me is every 2 years. Also it may not stop barrettes increasing in size.
I hoped the Fundo would stop acid causing more damage.
May I ask you how you dealt with burping and unable to vomit. consultant said he had 4 % of patients who had problems and regretted they had opn. That is the one concern I have and is putting me off opn.
Can you now eat drink what you like and burp a little.
The other reason for opn is to get off PPI I find they are slowing causing subtle side effects, tiredness, lethargy headaches and muscle twitches.
If your reading SharonZ have you any tips.
Regards Johnboyo
