JohnD,
I have a Hiatal Hernia, GERD, Gastroparesis and IBS-D. I've been having chest/upper abdomen pains and shortness of breath. A few weeks ago I went back tom PCP doctor and he ordered a chest x-ray. The x-ray showed that I have arteriosclerosis. He sent me to a cardiologist. The cardiologist says that I have the symptoms of an aortic aneurysm. I have an MRA scheduled for tomorrow. I am currently taking Nexium and this helps with GERD. I am constantly with chest/abdomen pains, shortness of breath and nausea. I am going to see what the MRA shows. Hopefully they'll find what's wrong with me and fix it. I am sick and tired of being sick all the time.
Please get a second opinion on the Hiatal Hernia surgery. I wish you the best and hope everything resolves without surgery.

I am usually on the Crohn's boards, but have a question that might be better suited to these.
I was dxed with having a Hiatal Hernia about 16 years ago and have been on meds to control the acid out put ever since. Last week(tuesday) i woke up short of breath and on Wednesday started having chest pain. finally saw my PCP yesterday and was told my Hiatal Hernia was the cause of my problem. He uped my Nexium doseage and gave me something for stress. came to work this a.m. and googled for some more information. for the problems i'm experiancing it calls out for surgery.
my question is this, has anyone here ever experianced shortness of breath and chest pain and was able to control it without a surgical repair?
any input would greatly be appreciated!!
