Friendlygal,
Check back on my postings, as WDC suggested, to see what I did to cure myself of GERD. I also had the most horrible nausea and terrible dizziness. Those were my only two symptoms and I was not diagnosed with GERD until I had just about every test done, including a brain MRI!
I was on Prilosec for 1 month and then had a rebound, the same horrible symtoms came right back. I was told to go on Zantac (as you will see by my past postings - found this information on Dr. Weil's site, well known medical doctor - DGL licorice works the same way, is a natural supplement and does not cause high blood pressure) but after a couple of days with more bad side effects, I decided to just go totally natural. Using the DGL licorice and other methods that I listed in previous postings such as alkaline diet (totally vegetarian) I was able to totally cure myself.
Now, some people might say that I used my mind to heal myself. Well, I certainly did use my mind to find a way to eat myself to a cure. I healed my esophagus by coating it with DGL licorice everytime I ate something!!!
It was a miracle for me and I still stand by it but trying to will yourself healed and DOING something physical are two different things.
I already posted that I think you have to use your brain and intelligence to try to heal yourself. Thinking positive thoughts is ok but when you are suffering (as I was and many of you are) and you are depressed because you don't see yourself getting better, it's easier said than done! I have to say that I was pretty persistant and never gave up though. I was discouraged at times and even thought it would be so much easier to just start taking drugs again......but I never gave up.
I'm pretty persistant when I make up my mind about things. What helped me keep going was reading that so many people are on these drugs for such a long time and never get anything resolved. I was also scared of all the potential next tests and procedures. There was no way I wasn't going to cure myself. I had never had anything like this happen and for me GERD was caused by a tripping accident that lead me to sleep exclusively on my right side and taking Advil at night (never take it, including aspirin, when sleeping). Take during the day and if taken at night, stay up 30 minutes. I read this on line after trying to figure out how the heck I got GERD.
I hope you are helped by what I did to help myself. Never give up trying to find a solution for yourself to a healthier life.
Danie
