I AM CURED!!!

not exactly cause I have symptom substitution but no more LPR!!! A while back Riverotter posted something about using Dr. Sarno's method. I have for the past month and a half, although it was a struggle I have come out cured! Only thing is other parts have started to hurt instead, like knee back of mouth. I wonder where riverotter and WDC have gone... I wish to tell them the good news. and salt laker...anyways, if you can read the past posts by WDC and riverotter...

It good to know that you are cured. What is Dr. Samo's method?

I'm still around; I check in now and then. I'd been wondering about you, too. Great to hear that you're doing well. I am, too. I stopped posting since it seemed I'd said pretty much what I had to say - people could take it or leave it. I didn't want to feel I had to keep justifying my position. Anyway, the angst so many are feeling about their symptoms affects me, so, like you, I can't be too involved with the site anymore.

Precious - I read the Mind Body Prescription by Dr. Sarno and found it very helpful. It deals more with chronic pain than acid reflux, but the methodology for curing both is the same.

Heartburner - do a search of riverotter's posts. There's a great discussion of Dr. Sarno's mindbody healing theories. It's worked for some of us.

Check out riverroter's thing. I would suggest the mind body description too, and it deals mostly with back pain, but I used his method for my LRP (acid reflux of the throat).

Step 1: get in touch with inner issues (anger, sadness, rage), step 2: tell the body that you are done with GERD symptoms, step 3: act normally, resume old habits (drink alcohol, eat your favorite foods, sleep any old way, etc.)

I'd caution that it's a little more involved than MOB1123's three step process, although the bottom line is your brain causing your body to experience pain because of psychological issues. This is not to say the pain is in your head. It is real, it's just caused by your brain. Dr. Sarno always urges patients to see their doctors to be sure there isn't some immediate physical cause of the pain. He deals with chronic pain - you've done the treatments, and are still hurting, so maybe there's something else going on.

I don't think Dr. Sarno would advocate resuming unhealthy habits. but as I write this I am eating a bowl of tomato-based minestrone and will be just fine.

As I said, he talks mostly about chronic pain, such as back and joint pain. The Mindbody Prescription does deal also with various digestive issues, including reflux.
