Hi, I am sorry you had such a painful experience. And I know colonoscopies are different for everyone. I was able to be asleep for mine. With have twists and turns like you do, no wonder is hurts. I had a colonoscopy and endoscope March 1. I was so sick after mine, and had diarrhea for over a week and pain. But mine was at the upper end, still have discomfort at my liver/kidney area and pain down my esophagus. I do hope you can get some answers.
One thing that bothers me is when the doctor or nurse says, well you shouldn't be having this pain/sick feeling from these two tests. How do they know. They don't know how my body reacts to things like this. So then if they don't feel it should give discomfort, then it's not real. oh grrrr. Just because the book says we shouldn't have pain or anything if they see a healthy colon or esophagus. The doctor said everything looked fine, but when my GP read the report, it said I have two small ulcerations and some esophagitis. Am still running a fever and feel sick.
So you tell your doctor what is going on. I was also on protonix when I was in the hospital for a couple of days and I didn't feel good taking it. Luckily I had nurses that believed me and told the doctor it wasn't helping. I have been on prevacid for many years now. I was told to take two a day now. Which I don't want to do. My niece said to try aloe vera juice, she said it helped to heal her insides and get rid of the ulcers. I know slippery elm helps with intestines too. It's healing.
You take care. And don't be afraid to write some questions down to ask the doctor. And don't let him/her bully you, you have a right to ask questions and get answers.
