Need Advice......Scared

Hi everyone, I have been reading the posts on here, and some of them I could have wrote myself.
However, I have some symptoms now that are really scaring me. A couple of weeks ago I developed these sores in my mouth.
I also have cold sores that the Dr says is caused by stress. I haven't hardly been able to eat much, because my mouth
would burn so bad. Now, for the past two days I find it hard to swallow because it hurts my throat and sternum so bad,
and it feels like there is air trapped in there. My throat even feels like an open sore when I burp, it hurts so bad.
Do any of you have these same symptoms?
Also, for the past 2 nights, I keep jumping awake in a panic attack. It feels like I am losing my breath or something.
I also sleep with my head elevated.

Any ideas or advice would be appreciated.

Sorry that you've been having a rough go at it.

Have you talked to the doctor about the sores and the hurting that you're going through? Personally, I had to go to the ER 4 times, and back to the doctor's office 6 times before he finally sent me to a GI specialist. You have to keep after the docs, once you build up a "case" ie, several times in with symptoms, then they can put together a pattern and a plan of action.

I get bumps in the back of my mouth sometimes, and it does seem to come on when I'm really stressed, however, my bumps aren't sore, nor do they burn.

Welcome to the forum! I have exp reflux problems for many yrs, and wanted you to know that I've had bumps occasionally on the back of my tongue, but not sure if they were from acid reflux.

The jumping up being awakened from sleep in panic may be a different story. This has happened to me in the past, my latest episode was just last night. I tell ya, it's really scary. I have been having a rough time with reflux and gas problems for approx 2 days now. So, this leads me to believe that this problem could possibly stem from GERD. I also recall exp this a couple of weeks ago when I was once again exp pronounced problems with reflux.

Of course, any new or persistent symptoms should be checked out by a licensed professional, but I just wanted you to know that you weren't alone.

Are you watching your food and drink intake????I know that I've been consuming more carbs and sugar lately than my body can tolerate. Sometimes, I go nuts with these things around or during cyclic cycles.

Hello ecarroll. hopefully you have had a diagnosis by now, but read your posting and wonder what you are stressed about? Stress can do funny things to us. especially at night when we are trying to sleep. two things: acid reflux can cause you to feel like you cannot breathe..because it can irritate the vegas nerve that runs in the center of your body. That can also make your heart skip beats or race. So can a hiatal hernia. But you sound like you are worried or stressed.... it must be pretty intense to make your mouth break out>  somehow you need to calm down and know that nothing is that bad that it is worth damaging your health over. And I have learned in my life that nothing is permanent. Things change. Do you have family or friends that you can laugh with and share your problems with? let us know what you find out about your digestion. But do not worry. I have had the breathing thing happen and it is either my hiatal hernia or a very dry sinus... . good luck. you will be ok.

Rouset, thanks for your reply. I am supposed to see a gastroenterologist this Thursday. I am nervous because my stepdad was having all these problems 4 yrs ago, and it was esophageal cancer. He is ok, but still he went through a lot. I also lost my Mom in 2004, which has raised my stress and anxiety level to a max. Not to mention all the antidepressants and anti-anxiety medications I have been on. Now, I am just waiting for the next bad thing to happen in my life. So, I am horrified that I am going to die. Hopefully, it will be something that is treatable.......I am praying that is the case anyway.
