Long story:
2+ years ago---I had an endoscopy done b/c my primary MD thought my 'sore throat' problems were b/c of GERD. The GI Guy (we'll call him #1)--found a spot on the outside of my esphogus---and directed me to another GI Guy (we'll call him #2) to get an endoscopic ultrasound (#1 didn't want to biopsy it b/c he didn't want me to hemmorrhage)---#2 said that it was a watery cyst---that moved out of the way---so, it wasn't a "problem"......(these guys were NOT in the same practice).....
I wasn't too impressed with Guy #1---he didn't really want to take the time to answer my ??s, like: what do you do during the procedure, will I be sedated, what if I get pains afterward, side effects, etc.... he kind of brushed them off--told us (me and DH) that it was no big deal procedure, and moved on. When I was coming out of it--he tried to explain it to me (in a fog) what he found---and when DH started asking him ??s, told DH to ask the nurse, he had to go.....(so, this is why I was/am NOT comfortable to seeing #1 again)
Today: I have been having problems for about 4 months with pains in my stomach/sternum/back....... First they thought it was my gall bladder (pain most on right side--except sternum)---after an ultrasound and hid-a-scan---tests were negative. Then, they thought I had some back problems, so I went to PT, but it didn't get better. My health insurance blessed an MRI--so, I got one of my mid-back (where the pain is)---and it came back negative.
Well--my MD thinks I may have given myself an ulcer b/c the pain in my sternum/back area was so bad--I lost 12 lbs in a 3 weeks--couldn't eat, sleep, pain, etc..., so he put me on prilosec---didn't work---put me on aciphex---and wrote me a referral for a GI guy in the same practice (we'll call him #3) as GI Guy #1, just not #1 guy......
Well, I called to make an appt with guy #3.......but, the office told me b/c I already saw a GI Guy #1-----#1 has to sign off that it's OK to see #3. A "formality", as they say.
So, after a week of waiting to hear back (and in pain)---I called them back---they told me that ALL 10 (that's 10) GI specialists in this particular office REFUSED to see me---NO REASON GIVEN!!!! I asked why, they said, no reason.
Now, I am trying to find another GI specialist about this problem, and when they ask if I have ever seen a GI specialist before, and I say, "yes..." they tell me that they usually won't take patients who have seen other GI specialists prior! What the heck?
So, I am pounding the pavement trying to find someone who will SEE ME----about these problems---
So, I am wondering---has anyone have this happen to them before? It's not like I had major surgery or anything.......just an endoscopy---no bad results.... I have an insurance plan that I will get charged for "out of networK"---but, if most of these dudes/dudettes won't see me b/c of some "thing"-----What should I do?
(sorry so long winded).....
