New here please help on determining if GERD can cause my symptoms

In my experience, I would say Yes, GERD can cause those symptoms, and anxiety can too. It could be a combo of both, in my opinion.

How often do you take the Aciphex, and the Xanax, and how do they work? Have you expressed your most recent concerns to your doctor?

I wouldn't be scared if I were you. Relax, wait for some more responses, browse through old posts, and make yourself at home here. I hope others will be along soon with some more opinions for you.

Hello again! First of all, that is good that your meds seem to be helping you out. I am confident that it is a combination of both. Thinking you have a serious condition may also have to do with the anxiety as well, as I suffer from anxiety, and often wonder if I have a chronic or terminal disease!!!

I would say not to worry so long as your symptoms don't seem to get worse. If ever in fear, call your doctor, and if your meds seem to lose their effect, then of course, call your doctor.

It is common for the doctor to press on your stomach and see what you are feeling. Did he do anything else though?

Again, feel free to look at old posts, they hold tons of answers, and if you are feeling unsure about any of your symptoms, it would never hurt to call your doctor. I hope you stick with us here, and get some answers to all your questions. Feel free to post anytime!!!

Hi! I am new here as well. Spartanspirit sorry to hear about your mother. I have read through many old post and all seems so right on with GERD. Looks like we all have many, many of the same effects going on. I also, as many others in here get anxiety. I also have a hiatal hernia and get the heart pounding or skipping beats . Anxiety can cause that and also my DR said GERD and the hernia thing as well. All the pressure. But had another DR that told me it can`t. Will stick with the one thats said it can. But test show all is well with my heart. Also with me some of the meds give me diarreah, as well as good old anxiety attacks. Is amazing what anxiety/panic attacks can do to one. Also the GERD does not help as it has just added to it. Many that have GERD will also have anxiety too.

By reading Tammy`s post to you listen to her she has very good advice. She is right read through some of the old post they are so helpful. I know they have helped me and know you are not alone out there.

Yes, alot of us thought we were the only ones going through this. Is amazing to see all the people that feel the same way. I was happy I must say when I found this site and all the post. Plus others that would understand and share as well. To know I am not alone out there is great.

Is hard to not to let it control you, that I do know. Seems it starts out with one thing and then all the rest just follows in line.

I get the dizziness as well. I do have to be careful on what I eat and only eat small amounts at a time. Sometimes I don`t even get hungry for I feel full. But know I still have to eat something. That is hard to do as well.

Good to hear you are out running. When I 1st started out with all this the anxiety took over and the panic. Then I got were I did not want to go out any place for fear I would have them in public. That was the worsed. So stayed in for a long time. I knew I had to do something and with working on it I was finally able to slowly get out. Now I am doing well with it. I still have times were I feel like I am going to panic out in public but am able now to get a handle on it all. So I am out doing brisk walks. I do this for 30 to 40 min each day. When I 1st started I was less then happy about it all. But now look forward to it and it has become a huge part of my life. Also doing yoga which has really helped.
