Eating fatty foods while on PPI's

I have been on Zegerid for a month now.  It is not helping my GERD but feels like it is helping the ulcers I was diagnosed with.  I have been VERY careful about eating small meals containing none of the known GERD triggers.  Howeve, yesterday I went to brunch with a friend and ate blueberry crunch granola pancakes and one scrambled egg.  I was OK until early evening when I started having gas which progressed to lower abdominal cramps and diarrhea.  I know its gross, but there was an oily residue floating on top of the toilet water.  Could it be that the PPI's have lowered my stomach acid to the point where I can't digest any oils?  This is the first instance of this and it was just wierd.  I have eaten very low fat up until now.  I'm worried I'm not digesting nutrients from my food!

I don't have any ideas about the residue, but I have learned that fried foods are a big trigger for me now. I did only notice it after I was taking my PPI and H2-histamine blockers, but I suspect that may be because the meds helped ease some of the other symptoms enough that I could notice new, weaker ones. For instance, if I eat McFries, which I've done all my life, I notice that I'll get a burning in the top of my throat. They are one of the few foods that trigger my gasping/choking awake out of sleep too. Prior to my LPR treatment, I wouldn't have said they caused any more trouble than anything else.

They do digest fine, however, at least in the final analysis.
