Can anyone tell me what these may feel like?  And if you have them, what do you do for it or take?

The few I had were post a dilation of my esophagus and were some of the worst pain I ever had, includng labor. At one point IV drugs were not totally relieving the pain.

After I got out of the hospital they gave me some liquid pain med to take. Like liquid demerol.

Hopefully, yours are not as bad as mine were. :)

It's almost like I'm experiencing small "shocks" in my chest.  Is this coming from the GERD or what do you think it could be? I do have PVC's but this feels different to me. Almost like a nerve or something. I am on Nexium and have mentioned this to my doctor but he just dismisses it.  This was happening before I started the Nexium.

I have something that may be similar.  I have this feeling in my chest like a burning or shock.  It feels like it is moving up from my chest area to my throat...but it seems to be constant.  Not sure if this feeling is esophageal spasms.

eugenia--have you seen a doctor for this?  I hate the feeling I'm getting?  I have a friend who is a chiroprator.  She met me at her office on Sunday and I promise you, I have had more relief from seeing her this week from anything else I've tried!!!!  I do see a Gastro doc on the 23rd, so hopefully I pray that he can help me.  I'm ready to get MY life BACK!  I hope you feel better!  :-)

HI everyone, I've had a spasm in the esophagus. Mine was a quick, punch to the upper center of the chest just below the throat. I gasped for breath just for a split second. Doctor said it was a spasm. Hope this tidbit helps.
