reglan anybody try it

Hey, is there anybody out there that thinks they have a motility problem that is causing reflux?  My GP suggested it and prescribed me reglan to quicken my food though my stomach?  Anybody with terrible relux from motility issues in the stomach.  Please write back...ps also on nexium 2x daily.  Thanks.

Good Morning JBT,

Metoclopramide (Reglan) stimulates motility of the upper gastrointestinal tract without stimulating gastric, biliary, or pancreatic secretions.

I know I have seen some posts on the  forum by members that have used it. You can go to the top search site and type in Reglan and you should find some posts re Reglan.

Thanks for responding so fast.  I tried it last night and now this morning...Can't wait to see if it works...This is the best thing that I have found in this forum.

Hi JBT, reglan helped, but I also had some side effects from it that caused me to stop taking it. It seems to be a first line defense when starting down the gastro road; hopefully it is still working for you.

Hi Janice, thanks for the reply...it seems like it works some of the time and not...I am not sure. I think fat is a big problem. I am on a very low fat diet great for weight but very hard to keep. What are your side effects and how long were you on it. jamie

on and off for several years, Jamie; my biggest side effects were parkinsons-like shaking..very peculiar. Apparently it had a neurological effect on me, so they cut it out of my regimen. Like you though, sometimes it seemed to help, other times I didn't notice any difference..go figure!

I have delayed emptying.  I have tried everything but it does not seem to work.  I was on metroclopromide (generic Reglan) twice and it nevr worked for me.  However on the positive side I never suffered from any side effects with the it either

I was given Reglan 10 mg. 1/2 hour before each meal and before bed after my lap. Nissen Fundoplication because of having slow motility. It is the first time I have ever taken it. It says it causes dizzyness and drowsiness. I am not sure if I feel that because of taking pain meds. I hope it helps you.

Relan kills..........do not let anyone tell you it doesn't.   My mom started taking it on March 08.   She had all the symtoms of an adverse reaction and the drs and nurses in the nursing facility she was in just looked the other way.   First they said the depression and anxiety were normal.  Then they told us that her tremors were not a big deal.  (She was to the point she could not hold a fork).  She then had seizures on Oct 21st and died on Nov 1st.   If you do not believe me then search the web.   There are countless cases where people develope Parkinsons after they have taken Reglan yet the doctors say it is not related.   Bull.....This stuff kills and must be taken off the market.

Do not take Reglan.   It killed my mother.   She started taking it on March 29th and was dead by Nov 1st.  This drug must be taken off the market.  The side affects can be irreversable or they can kill you.   My mom was in a nursing facility and was being monitored by doctors and nurses.   They did nothing.   Please it is not worth the chance. skull

Dear Annie's Girl,

I am so sorry about your Mother.  It is a sad thing to lose your parents.

Can you share with us what it was with the Reglan that caused you Mother's death?  Did she have a sever allergic reaction that no one noticed?

You have my deepest sympathy and prayers at your loss.
