Chronic Illness and Depression go hand in hand. Depression is a natural part of dealing with a chronic illness. When your body is challenged physically, it often times challenges the affects your brain chemicals which can lead to depression. Not to mention that with a chronic illness a person is dealing with an avalanche of new experiences both physical and emotional and that can affect their emotional health.
Depression is an illness in itself and combined with other medical issues makes for a truly challenging situation. Yes, there is hope.
One of the best ways to deal with depression is CBT.
Cognitive-behavioral therapy is based on the idea that our thoughts cause our feelings and behaviors, not external things, like people, situations, and events. The benefit of this fact is that we can change the way we think to feel / act better even if the situation does not change.
There is a free online CBT site you can join and use for free. You may work through it at your own pace. Here is the link:
