Hello new member here.
39 y/o male, active, good overall health.
Dx with GERD about 1.5 years ago or so. Been on Nexium pretty much the entire time. Never had a cardiovascular problem before. about a year ago I noticed a new, unprovoked onset of tinnuitis. about 6 months ago noticed my blood pressure was up.
In the past 3 weeks I've experienced an episode of super ventricular tachycardia, more palpitations, and feelings of discomfort that originates in my chest and radiates throughout my whole body down to my feet. (Tingling type of feeling you get before you pass out though I don't feel as though I'm going to pass out if that makes any sense)
I knew there had been an issue with Nexium and heart risks and had read the "interpretation" of the studies that the FDA put out dismissing the "issue".
Friday I had an episode at work and this time it involved a tightness (hadn't had that before) for about 30 minutes that morning. I had taken my nexium normally.
Saturday I skipped it for no reason other than forgetting and had a really good day. No real issues or feelings. Sunday I took it again and had times of discomfort and other weird feelings. So today I skip it and have had no really significant events. (did get a little more tired than normal doing some outside work).
Today I also scoured the web looking for others with similar issues which brought me to this message board.
As a side note, I'm not taking my Nexium again to see if the cardiac problems resolve. If they do, looks I'll be looking for other GERD controls, if they don't then maybe I'm getting old and am having real heart problems.
Anyone else have similiar problems on Nexium? I don't exactly trust the pharmaceutical giants OR the FDA.
