skipped beats from GERD?

It was suggested to me on another forum to pose my concern here in search of some information.  Does anyone here get skipped beats from GERD?  I have never been diagnosed for GERD or any heart disease after many tests.  I do not have any other symptoms for these either.  I get many skipped beat sensations throughout the day and they are followed immediately by a little burp or cough. They occur at any time during any activity or non activity.  I do have anxiety disorder, but when in an anxious state my sensations are different than the single skipped beat.  I feel this is not do to anxiety.

I has been suggested to me that this my be gas in the chest.  I have taken protonix, nexium, and omniprozale (as drs first treated me for GERD and then determined it was anxiety) none of them worked for the skipped beat feeling.  If any of you have this symptom, is there anything that helps?

Hi, I'm not sure about GERD and skipping beats...but here's what I can tell you that I do know that might help you...I have GERD, IBS, and I thought I might have gallbladder disease, but all that might really be what is called Habba Syndrome. So why am telling you that..well it's because that I'm going to a new Gastro. Dr. and he did blood tests yesterday because he's going to do a scope on me next Tues. The tests found that I was very low in potassium and the Dr. told me that my low potassium could cause some arrhythmia(skipping beats). Have you had a blood test to see if your potassium level is low?

Also, before I was diagnosed with thyroid problems (10 yrs ago) my heart would speed up and skip beats. So maybe that's your problem or part of it. Have you had a blood test to check your thyroid level? If yours is low like mine, most likely you will only need to take 1 little pill daily and that will fix you right up.

Maybe one of those is causing the problem. My potassium is low because I have continual diarrhea and I loose all the potassium. So now the Dr. Has me taking 1 potassium pill a day. He also said I could eat bananas for a quick potassium fix. If you are low in potassium, bananas will will help bring your potassium level back up within hours. I'm amazed at how fast just one potassium pill helped bring back my energy level. If bananas don't work and you've been tested for Thyroid, then I'd suggest you see a cardiologist. Everyone in my family has died of a heart attack. So I don't take symptoms lightly...ck it out...it may be your life! Good Luck

Anxiety can cause tachycardias as well as many other problems.  Reducing stress and anxiety

can help lessen heart palpitations.
