Gave into Temptation...will I pay dearly????

I have been using Nexium 40mg for the last 3 years everyday due to a lazy LES. Diets don't do anything for me. I can be on an empty stomach and have a glass of water and I will feel the pain and discomfort we all share here. My question is: Has anyone had pain and discomfort while using Nexium or any other PPI? This past weekend I noticed a slight sensation of heartburn. As the week continues I have noticed that my symptoms aren't bad but they do go unnoticed. A little background info: While taking my one dose per day of Nexium I do not feel a thing. I do cheat...I wont lie but I dont really abuse it . Im concerned at this point. Its been 5 days now and I haven;t seen an improvement. This past weekend I accompanied my fiance with her friends on a "bar crawl" for St. Patricks day. This past weekend all we ate was "bar" food and drank beer diet consisted of chicken wings. I know its bad...but it is what it is. I gave into temptation and now I am paying for it. Do you think this is temporary or have I done some real damage? Will the nexium ever work again or have I reached the limit on Nexium?
