first follow up after surg on friday

hi everyone well i'm going in for my first follow up on friday i have my surg on 5/12 .is there anything special i should ask at that time.

 i know i called them yesterday becasue i was thinking on of the surgical sites got or was getting infected the glue that they put on it at the time of the surgery came off a day after i got home well it scabed over and was fine but the other day it was red around it and it started getting warm to the touch so when i called them they said to put triple antibiotic oint and they would check it on friday.

everything else is going good

Hi Melissa,
You should definitely make a list of questions. If you're anything like me, you'll forget your questions as soon as you walk in the office! I asked questions about how to go forward with my recovery--things like lifting restrictions, eating suggestions, activity restrictions, and questions about what I might expect in the next months.

I expressed my concern that my asthmatic coughing would wear down my hernia repair, and thus my wrap. I asked him if he would be doing tests to check the wrap (he wouldn't).

I can't remember everything, but hopefully this helps you some.

Hey denise,
I think I may have a slight infection in my belly button. Yesterday,while at my daughters house, I was in irrregular pain there? Anyway, he told me to use mederma lotion on my scars since may 20th.My daughter was putting the lotion on and said ma, you belly button looks infected inside. I said "really?" Now I know why I have this pain. Other then that, I am eating perfectly well.Although the last 2 days ,I sometimes feel a weird feeling in my left breast.Maybe it is heartburn?? I never had heartburn? Im gathering it is from the nursing of soad.I am not going to drink soda to see?
I am calling the surgeon today.Meanwhile, I will use triple antibiotic ointment.

Hi Bea,
Sorry to hear you're having belly button problems! That's what you get for piercing it! I'm sure your doc will get it under control quickly. It's a good thing to call, though. You don't want to let it go at all.

As far as pains go...you've been through a major overhaul! My surgeon said that he's heard of every pain in the book. There are lots of nerves that were inflamed with your wrap, so it's possible that it's referred pain from one of those.

Of course at our stage in the game, our wraps are not completely healed, pretty much anything is possible. I rather doubt heartburn, though. You were a "silent GERDer", right? Heartburn is more likely to strike in the center of the chest--right behind the breast-bone. Severe heartburn can cause radiating pain all the way to the jaw and ears. Not fun! Glad to be rid of that!

hey everyone well today i went to a appoimtment and not with my surgen but a different dr and well when they weighed me i have lost about 20 pounds so far and i'm in no way eating as much as i usto and the stuff i usto so hopfuly the weigh keeps comming off

LOL, I wish I had the guts to pierce anything including my ears!! LOL I am on triple anitbiotic ointment and antibiotics by mouth times 7days. I just wish this slight pain in my chest are (breast area seize) I hope its not costcochondritis, ive had this b4 and was hospitalized.

Today i ate half bowl of raisin bran , a quarter cup of pasta fagoli soup and a quarter of chicken wrap with balsamic vinegar.

Im doin okay

If it doesn't start to get better soon please get back to the doctors and make sure they do something. My niece went in to have cryo ablation of her uterine lining and some how she ended up getting an Ecoli and mrsa infection in her uterus. Strange things can happen. I hope it clears up quickly.

20 pounds! Wow...That's a lot. I hope I shed quite a few pounds during this NPO hospital stay. It's good to hear all is going good besides the irritation of the incisions. I have the same stuff on my incisions. It's my first experience with it and so far it hasn't been bad. I do have a couple that I accidentally scratched it. But no bleeding and so far no redness. I hope everything foes well at your appointment tomorrow. Let us know.

you do not have to tell me about ecoli. i caught it in the hospital myself and I was like What? Is this hospital a 3rd world hospital? How do I come in for asthma sinusitis and have ecoli .Mind you i didnt eat hospital food.

Its a bit red and scabby.

Hi Denie, Im still infected ugh. My breast pain is maybe 3 to 4 times a day. I gues it is heartburn ?????? who knows.Its a weird feeling.

Hi Bea,
I wouldn't guess heartburn with the breast...but I don't know for sure. Any heartburn you might feel after surgery is more likely to be located in your wrap/lower esophagus area, I think. At least that's my experience. It could be trapped gas from the surgery still, or something with the breast that's unrelated. If it keeps up, you should go see your ob/gyn.

Has your surgeon seen your belly button incision? Hopefully that gets better fast! I'm sure it's really uncomfortable.

 I was  thinking it was gas left over from surgery goin into my breasts.If it keeps up,I will call the GYN.I just had a mamo not to long ago.I am good or at least I think I am good. Yes, the surgeon has me on antibiotics ,triple antibotic ointment and neosporing ointment that has pain reliever in it .I dont know where.I guess it numbs the outside but inside .Kiss of death lies beneath this belly button.LOL

Im waiting for my hubby to get ready for this spring fling party. He is worse then a woman, worse then models. I am ready in seconds. I dont spend hours puttin on make up becuz I feel if it takes youthat long,your truly ugly.LOL ,He irons every nook and crannie.od its annoying. He is wearing a suit which was dry cleaned,he is still ironing it.Go Figure (US ARMY ) LOL

Hope you have/had fun at your Spring Fling! My money is on the trapped gas theory. Not long ago, I ate way, way too much, and I got some of the trapped gas shoulder pain again. Go figure.
