Hi everyone,
Well the decision has been made. I am staying at the hospital one more week. They don't want to rush into anything and make things worse. The wrap is great and he and I both don't want to damage it. Unless I get septic they are just going to wait and watch. He told me before this surgery that it could be a long haul before everything is normal again. I am prepared to stay if that is what it takes to feel normal again.

I am sorry you will be there another week... but glad they are keeping you so you can continue to get better! My thoughts are with you :)

Hey Bill,

I think that is a wise decision on behalf of your physician and you too.  I know it won't be easy but in the end run it does seem like the best thing to do.

Do you want me to sing and dance for you to help pass the time............. idea .  If they have a  pysch unit there I could end up as a inpatient when they caught me doing the Can Can Dance. turn

While Kitt does the famous can can dance, I will do some ballet but i may spin around and knockdown a few IV poles, So i will just do the hustle with myself,act like I have a partner then meet Kitt in the psych unit . I can act like I have issues too. **** !!!

I think you have excellent doctors. They are being very cautious--allowing your body to heal while providing medical support and oversight. I know it's hard to wait things out, but that's the best thing to do. You've got a forum filled with cheerleaders--rooting for your new wrap, and sending healing thoughts and prayers your way. I thought about you all day today...wondering how things were going. Hang in there, Bill.
You're where you need to be. Keep thinking positive thoughts...it'll all work out. It's just so hard waiting. I think Kitt, Bea, and I will have to form a chorus line...hmmmmmm. Interesting picture!

Thanks you two. That made my night. I didn't think I was gonna get back online. My puter said it was connected, but wasn't able to bring any pages up. After some trouble shooting I found out my son had spilled something sticky in the card slots. Had to do some cleaning and reconfiguring, but it up and running again. I was getting nervous.
Anyhow, I got a shower this evening and that felt pretty good. I was waiting because I was still sweating and freezing a lot until about 3pm. Things have settled down some now.
My daughter went back home this evening. She wanted to go to school tomorrow and she has a tournament this weekend. She knows dad is going to be ok, so she is alright now. The last time she saw me was when
I was heading to the car in severe pain.
Jodee, Thanks for keeping me in your thoughts. This is my longest stay in a hospital and I hope it's my last. I was afraid the staff at a large hospital would be different than the small ones I have been to. I am really impressed with the staff on the surgical floor anyhow. I am sure they are just as good on the other too. I did have a couple that were from the 4th floor and they were also great.
My wife made it back from her trip to take Jess home. She was nice and bought me a usb optical mouse for the laprop because the pad one on it is acting strange. She's sooo sweet!

I'm glad to hear that the nursing staff on your floor are nice. That's about the most important thing in your hospital stay! After what you went through at the imaging floor, you deserve some TLC.
Glad to hear that your chills and hot flashes (LOL) are better tonight.

Bill I can do the electric slide from  one side of the surgical floor to thee other ****.I told My hubby David.I said I am wonderin if bill is in surery.I am so glad my thoughts were wrong.

Good Morning Bill and I hope the sun is shining in your window today bringing you healing rays.

I can do the  Twist to Bea's electric slide dance, Oh now I have done it and given away my age tongue .

I am glad the nurse's are treating you well...........hurrah for nurses........Nurses call the shots.  Nurses Rock. yeah    yeah    yeah

Here is one for you......splint your incision............

Patient: "Nurse, I just swallowed my pillow!"
Nurse: "How do you feel?"
Patient: "A little down in the mouth"

I know I am a sick nurse  smilewinkgrin smilewinkgrin smilewinkgrin LOL.

OK now let's be serious, you have an awesome wife and she bought you a new optical mouse !  You tell her she is A++ in my book.  My hubby set a trap for my mouse when I said I saw one I wanted.

I am sure glad your daughter was able to visit and I know she feels better after being able to see you.

It is good to know you are sqeaky clean too.  I used to help my Sister take a shower at the hospital and we were both wet and clean when I got down.  It always feels so good to have a shower and clean up. 

Well my friend, I am hoping your day is good and that you keep on the mend now.  You have so many here cheering for you and praying for a  successful recovery that you will make it through with enough time.

I wish you peace and happiness but most of all Bill, I wish you love.

Today the sun is shining more than yesterday. It looks really nice outside. I hope everyone has a great weekend. Michelle and I are at least spending it together. It really is the little thins in life that count the most.
I am so happy Michelle talked me into letting them put in the PICC line. I still can't get over how easy this thing is to have. Most of the time I don't even realize it's there. Unless I catch it on something and then it's just the tape pulling hairs on my arm. I remember the last time I had to stay more than a day in the hospital my IV site was all red and hurting. Every time I moved I was reminded it was there.

Well I am off to take another shower, another one of those little things in life!

I can do the twist to chubby checker with you.I have an old soul. LOL.Bill we wish you a speedy recovery.Now, since I have been rooting for you so hard I must change your name to the one guy I root like this for "Eli, Eli Manning!" LOL
So Eli, I will continue to pray for our quaterback because you lead our team .See even on healing well your a coach!! LOL

Ok... Eli it is. That goes right along with, Crash, Garfield , and Salad. I pretty reckless as a child, hence Crash. Then Garfield fit because of my name is the same as the actor's voice who is Garfield in the movie. And Salad was given to me when I was tossed out of a game for "arguing" with the umpire, I was right, he was wrong and didn't like it. So he tossed me. That made the girls play harder and then ended up winning the game.

Bea, OK I give up, who is Chubby Checker, a cab company...........LOL.  Got ya.  Hey the one dance I am to young for is the Charleston...........that was be/4 my time.

Now you two are talking football and I am from the land of Purple Power oh yeah and the Twinkies play baseball here too and we have  some Wolves and then there is the Wild if you want to toss in a hockey puck or 2.  cool

So Bill it is date night huh?  Friday night and your going to spend it with just Michelle?  Whoooooo hooooooo and you showered too.  Awesome my friend.

Glad the PICC line is working out for you.  They do beat the heck out of a regular IV access site and they can stay in for a long time.

Try to get some rest and let your body heal. 

My thoughts are with you and lots of prayers..................

It is the simple things in life that brings us the most pleasure.  You are so right  !

Hi Bill,
Sounds like you're doing well. You, Bea, and Kitt are having a real party while I'm off teaching second graders! Showers and everything. Simple pleasures, huh? Glad you and Michelle can be together in a private room. It makes so much difference. You can relax without worrying about whether you're bothering someone else (or they're bothering you.)

Your cheery and positive attitude continues, so that's good sign!
Just wanted to know I'm still cheering for you.

Wow..Were cheering and dancing now. Cool! Sounds like they may wait until Monday before I get to try clear liquids again. Might happen Sunday if I am doing really great. They asked if I wanted to try tomorrow and I told the "Nope! Not ready yet.".
I am still scared to try it. the whole 0 for 2 thing you know.

Can't blame you for that! Nobody would be anxious to push the liquids after what you've experienced. Waiting another day sounds like a great idea. Why rush? The longer you wait, the more your stomach will have healed.

Well I am home alone, just me and the dog...........the devil dog.  He is a puppy and likes to nibble on my toes.  ARG!

I think you are right on, wait another day before trying H20.  I can understand your fears,  the what ifs?  Try to stay in the moment and remember that you can still make a home run on that next pitch, your not out of the ball game my friend.

Hope you're doing well this morning. You're very right about wanting to be cautious. Hey...what's a few more days without eating or drinking...you've made it this long. I'm assuming you're able to suck on water-soaked sponges, aren't you? You must be doing some swishing and spitting, otherwise. My mouth is always dry...even on IV fluids.

Enjoy your forced relaxation...if you can stay in the "now" and surrender to your situation, you'll find it so much easier. Struggling against it will make things harder. Try to act as if you've chosen your special private room and your time with your wife and family. Mr. Positive, if anyone can pull this off, you can. Thanks for continuing to share your strength and hope with new forum visitors!

I like that one a lot! I found out this morning that I get to try again on Monday. He believes he the knows where the leak is now. He says it is in the fundus area, that's why it doesn't show up on barium swallow. The contrast can't get into that area with the wrap in place. That explains why it gets worse when I drink. It pushes air and what ever out when the pressure rises.

Denise,I have been fighting the dry mouth, but they added a regular IV to the TPN and now I don't have it as bad. I do have the green sponge on a stick too. Hey, that could be a new Jeff Dunham puppet!

Anyhow, I get to keep on my gourmet meal in a bag for a couple more days atleast.
